Here is my newest weapon:
JJ got this exact bike, and it is all shiny and new waiting to be enjoyed. But this is a special bike: The only little boys who can ride it, are little boys who go poop in the potty.
This morning when JJ came down and saw it in our living room, he was so excited and wanted to try it. When we explained the rules though, his face fell and he was SO SAD. Then he just turned around and went to lay on the couch, totally dejected. I feel like such a mean mom!
My pediatrician told me that when they were potty training his little boy they had a big trip to Disneyland planned. He told his son that if he wasn't using the potty by then, they would just leave him home. (I thought I was mean!) The son was potty trained the next day.
This bike is the last thing I'm going to try. If it doesn't work, I'm giving up and JJ can wear diapers to college. I seriously can't deal with this any more.
Secretly, I don't think it will work.

Marianne's youngest gave her fits about potty training. Then one day he calmly told her that he wouldn't go in the big-boy potty until he was four (!), and then he would. So she let it go, and when he turned four he potty trained in a snap. I have no advice personally, I am terrified of the very notion of trying to take Wyatt out of diapers! Good luck!

Good luck! Potty training must be some seriously frustrating business. Don't give up even if the bike doesn't work. He'll get it with time. Don't you just love advice (although it's not really advice just support) from a girl that doesn't have kids?!
I'm so glad I don't have to potty train boys! Just stick to your guns...incentives worked great for my little girl! And what little boy wouldn't want an awesome bike!

Good luck! What finally worked for Ian was a combination of bribery and motivation from big brother Gabe. But, this was after a few months of me trying and being very let down time and time again. (Two babies in diapers does suck doesn't it?) I think they just do it when they decide to do it. Hopefully for your sake that is soon. :)
The bike is from Target. The box said that it was for ages 3 and up, but it is actually too big for JJ. I think it would be the perfect size for a 4 year old boy.
I'm not sure if I'll try to keep this up- he really doesn't want to be potty trained, and I'm just really worn out from fighting him every 20 minutes to go potty.
You are hilarious. I love the bike tactic. Bribes are sometimes the only thing that works, I swear. I am so not looking forward to potty training Parker. And reading your post doesn't encourage me at all. :) I have been totally avoiding it, although I know I need to start soon.... hope the little guy catches on soon and if you walk away with any great advice, I am listening! Hehehe- Im dreading that stage of life... I've heard it is harder for boys to pick it up. Good for you for holding out. I've tried three times already to buy Jayden a gift for Easter... And he has played with all of them ... Just because Im so stinking excited about it. lol

We are going to have to get that bike! Its awesome! If it makes you feel any better, it took us almost a year to potty train Porter! Its so frusterating, but it'll happen! Good luck!
